I started reading graphic novels to reduce my screen time at night (as I write this on my laptop at night) and to learn how to improve my storytelling. Over time I figured what better way to improve not only my storytelling but also my writing abilities by writing reviews of some of the more notable graphic novels I’ve read.
The story focuses on Dani and Zoe, childhood Canadian friends who reunite in New York City for Spring Break. Dani brings Fiona, a girl she met at her university in Montreal. At first, Fiona’s no-nonsense, larger-than-life personality seems to impress the duo. But tension starts to build as Fiona is constantly judgmental of Dani’s opinions while Zoe is too smitten to defend her friend. All of this happens as they explore some of the many iconic sites of the Big Apple.
This story is about Marguerite, a teenager who was told her whole life she was chosen to save the world, and Daisy, a talking Chow Chow. According to Uncle Bernard, the world ended on January 1, 2000, splitting it into different realms by dark magic that grows more unstable over time. It’s up to Marguerite and Daisy to collect totems from 3 different realms in order for Bernard to cast a spell to put everything back to what it was.
